Let's get started!

Learn how to set up products manually or import them in bulk, organise them into categories, add compelling images, and configure special pricing. Whether you're managing a few specialty items or thousands of SKUs, these tools will help you build a catalog that drives sales and simplifies inventory management.

What you can do

The Product Catalog section of Retail Core covers everything from creating your first product to managing complex weighted items and stock levels across multiple locations.

â„šī¸
How this section works: Each article covers one task end to end. Start with Product Setup if you are building your catalog from scratch. Use Advanced Configuration once your core products are in place. Enable Inventory Control when you are ready to track stock across your stores.
đŸ“Ļ
Product Setup
Manual entry, bulk Excel import, categories, images, and AI-generated images.
âš™ī¸
Advanced Configuration
Special pricing, metrics, styles, bottle deposit, scales, and weighted barcodes.
📊
Inventory Control
Stock management activation, warehouses, store stock, and complementary products.

Before You Start

  • ✅ You have an active Retail Core account with Administration access.
  • ✅ At least one Store and linked POS terminal are configured in the Retail Core Admin Panel.
  • ✅ You have your product names, prices, and VAT rates ready before starting manual entry.
  • ✅ For bulk import: your product data is prepared in the Retail Core Excel template format.
  • ✅ For stock management: your warehouse locations are defined before activating inventory control.
💡
Tip: Plan your product hierarchy categories and sub-categories before adding products. The hierarchy determines how products appear in reports and how they can be assigned to POS Presets. Restructuring it later takes effort.

Product Setup

Create and organise your product catalog. Start with your categories, then add products manually or import them in bulk. Add images to make your terminals visually appealing to customers.

Categories and structure

Categories (item hierarchies) organise your products into logical groups. Create your full hierarchy before adding products -- for example Beverages > Soft Drinks > Cola -- so every product lands in the right place from the start.

Adding products

Add products one at a time for small catalogs, or use the Excel import for larger ranges. Both methods support product name, item code, price, tax rate, and barcode. Unit types let you define how a product is measured and sold.

Product images

Images make your terminals more appealing and help customers identify products quickly. Add images individually, upload in bulk, or let Retail Core generate images automatically using AI.

💡
Image format: Use a square image of at least 500x500 px with a transparent or white background for best results on Nova Market and Nova 55F screens. In the Meta field, select Main Image: POS to ensure the image appears at the terminal.

Inventory Control

Track stock levels per product across your store locations in real time. Activate stock management first, then create warehouses and link stock to your stores. Use complementary products to automatically suggest add-ons at the terminal.

âš ī¸
Activate stock management first: Create your warehouses and store structure before activating stock management. Activating it before your locations are configured can require manual correction of stock assignments.
