Modifiers | Retail

Set up Modifiers in Retail Core so customers can personalise their orders with add-ons, swaps, and combinations at the point of sale.

General

Set up Modifiers in Retail Core to let customers personalise their orders at the point of sale — choosing add-ons, swapping options, and building combinations. Follow the guides in this series in order for a complete, correctly configured setup.

Before You Start

  • ✅ You have Administration access in Retail Core.
  • ✅ Your product catalogue is already set up in Retail Core. Modifiers are linked to existing products.
  • ✅ You know which products need customer-selectable options (add-ons, swaps, or combinations).
💡
Tip: Follow the guides in this series in order. Each step builds on the previous one — setting up Modifier Groups before creating individual Modifiers will cause configuration issues.

What Are Modifiers?

Modifiers allow customers to personalise their orders at the point of sale. Instead of ordering a fixed product, a customer can choose from options you define such as size, extras, substitutions, or combinations.

â„šī¸
Example: A coffee operator can set up a Modifier so customers choose their milk type (full fat, oat, soy) and an optional extra shot without the operator needing a separate product for every combination.

Modifiers are configured in the Catalog section of Retail Core. The setup has a specific order - follow the guide series below from Step 1 to Step 9 for a complete configuration.

Note: Modifiers must be linked to products to appear at the point of sale. Creating Modifiers without linking them to a product will have no effect on the customer ordering experience.

Modifier Setup Guide Series

Complete these guides in order. Each guide covers one stage of the setup. Links open the full step-by-step article for each task.
