Basic Terminology
An operational network governed by laws, rules, and standards that links bank accounts and enables monetary exchange. The payment system is the full infrastructure: institutions, instruments, rules, procedures, standards, and technical means that together transfer monetary value between parties.
A payment system that uses cash-substitutes rather than physical currency.
The business that sells a service or product. A merchant may operate a large fleet of unattended machines, a small number of devices, or work with Nayax across other verticals such as Micro Market and Retail. The merchant uses Nayax services and receives payment settlements from Nayax.
The mediator between Nayax and local banks or card issuers (schemes). Nayax integrates with Billing Gateways to connect with local banks in every country, rather than integrating with each bank directly.
Credit and debit cards are branded Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and others. Some brands also carry local variants such as BP (France), IsraCard (Israel), and LACPI (Mexico). Not all Billing Gateways support all brands; Visa and Mastercard are supported by default.
In some markets, Nayax connects directly with banks — without using a Billing Gateway as an intermediary.
An alternative payment option where the consumer pays using a mobile app instead of a physical card. Mobile payments are a growing trend globally, and Nayax has integrations with almost all major mobile payment applications.
