Poland market only, for now. This feature currently applies to Poland's national bottle and can deposit regulation, and to credit card transactions only. Cash transactions are in active development and will be covered in a future update.

Before You Start

  • You have Administration access to the Products module in Nayax Core.
  • Your business operates in Poland and is subject to the national bottle and can deposit regulation.
  • You know which products in your catalog carry a deposit, and the deposit amount required for each under Polish regulation.
  • Your devices accept credit card payments. Cash support is in development and not yet covered by this feature.
ℹ️
What is Poland's bottle and can deposit scheme? Poland requires an extra refundable deposit fee on certain bottles and cans. The deposit must be fiscalized separately from the product's own VAT, but the fee itself is not subject to VAT. This is a back-office fiscal requirement - it does not need to appear on the consumer receipt or device display.

What This Feature Does

Poland requires operators to charge and fiscally report a deposit fee on certain bottles and cans, separate from the product's own VAT. Nayax Core includes fields at the product level so this deposit can be configured and correctly reported to the fiscal authority.

The final price shown to the consumer already includes the deposit. Behind the scenes, Nayax Core separates the deposit out before calculating VAT on the remaining product price.

🧮
How the calculation works: The deposit fee is not subject to VAT. Nayax Core subtracts the deposit from the total price first, then calculates VAT on what's left.

Example: Soft drink, final price 5.50 PLN, deposit fee 0.50 PLN, VAT rate 23%.
Price excluding deposit: 5.50 − 0.50 = 5.00 PLN
Net amount: 5.00 / 1.23 = 4.07 PLN
VAT amount: 5.00 − 4.07 = 0.93 PLN
Total charged to the customer stays 5.50 PLN.

Fiscal Data Fields (Advanced)

This section is for technical staff verifying or integrating with the fiscal data directly. Most operators can skip it.

Every Sale (Register) and Void fiscal request carries the deposit data alongside the standard tax fields:

Field Contains
Net.Amount Net amount - excludes both the deposit and VAT
TaxRatePercent VAT amount, calculated on the price excluding deposit
TotalAmount Final price charged to the customer, including the deposit
Products[].depositFee The deposit amount set on that product
Products[].depositType The deposit type set on that product (Plastic Bottle, Can, or Reusable Glass Bottle)

Example (Sale transaction): Price 2.00 PLN, Deposit Fee 0.10 PLN, VAT 23%.

Taxable Gross: 2.00 − 0.10 = 1.90 PLN

Net Amount: 1.90 / 1.23 = 1.5447 PLN

Tax Amount: 1.90 − 1.5447 = 0.3553 PLN

Total Amount: 2.00 PLN (unchanged)

The same calculation logic applies to Void requests. A Void tested without a deposit (Price 0.10 PLN, VAT 23%) correctly applied VAT to the full price, confirming the calculation only excludes the deposit when one is actually set on the product.

The Deposit Fields

The fields appear in the Misc Info section of the Product screen (Nayax Core > Administration > Products > Products), directly after the existing Tax field.

Nayax Core > Products > Product Details > Misc Info section
Field Input Type Details
Deposit Type Dropdown (See image above) Optional. Choose Plastic Bottle, Can, or Reusable Glass Bottle.
Deposit Fee Numeric Optional. The deposit amount, up to 2 decimal places, maximum 100.00. Currently the same fee applies no matter which Deposit Type is selected.
Deposit Tax Numeric (%) Leave this field blank. It is not currently used - the deposit fee is not subject to VAT, and this field is not read by the system.
⚠️
Set the Deposit Fee yourself. Nayax does not set or validate this amount for you. Set it according to the deposit amount required for that product type under Polish regulation.
💡
Tip: These fields are optional. If a product doesn't carry a deposit, leave them blank.

Excel Import and Export

The Products Excel template in Nayax Core includes three columns matching the deposit fields, in the same order they appear on the Product screen.

Products Excel export/import template, showing the Deposit Type, Deposit Fee, and Deposit Tax columns
Column Required Notes
Deposit Type No Leave blank if the product has no deposit
Deposit Fee No Leave blank or 0 if the product has no deposit
Deposit Tax No Leave blank - not currently used
ℹ️
Good to know: Existing import files that don't include these columns will still import normally. You only need to add them if you're configuring deposits for one or more products.

What You Should See

✅ Deposit fee configured: Once you set a Deposit Type and Deposit Fee on a product, the value is saved with that product and used automatically the next time that product is sold by credit card. Nayax Core fiscalizes the deposit separately from VAT going forward.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Deposit fields on the Product screen
Confirm you're looking in the Misc Info section of the Product screen, after the Tax field. If the fields are still not visible, this may be a rollout timing issue for your account. Contact Nayax Support to confirm availability.
The deposit fee doesn't show on the printed receipt
This is expected. The deposit fee does not need to appear on the consumer receipt or device display. It's fiscalized in the back-office reporting sent to the fiscal authority, separate from what the customer sees at the point of sale.
I paid with cash and the deposit wasn't handled the same way
This is expected for now. The deposit fee feature currently applies to credit card transactions only. Cash support is in active development and will be covered in a future update.
