DOT QR Reader Installation and Configuration
Install and configure your DOT QR Reader step by step. Covers cable connection, device behavior, and the RS232 Nayax Core attribute setup needed to activate QR scanning on your machine.
General
Connect and configure your DOT QR Reader to enable QR code scanning on your Nayax device. This guide covers physical installation and the required Nayax Core attribute setting.
Prerequisites
- DOT QR Reader unit and cable
- Access to Nayax Core with machine management permissions
- Your Nayax device powered off before beginning installation
Installation
Step 1: Connect the cable
Connect the DOT QR Reader cable to the Female RJ45 socket on the cable.

Step 2: Verify the reader is active
Power on the device. The DOT QR Reader is working correctly when:
- It projects white light and emits a beep sound on startup
- It activates when an obstacle blocks the external light sensor, for example, when a hand or QR code is presented
- It returns to sleep mode when no obstacle is detected

Nayax Core Configuration
Once the reader is physically connected, configure the RS232 attribute in Nayax Core to recognize it.
Set RS232 Control to DOT QR Reader:
- In Nayax Core, locate your machine.
- Go to the Attributes tab.
- Find the RS232 Control group.
- Set RS232 Connection to 34 DOT QR Reader.
- Click Save.

⚠️ Don't see the RS232 Control group? Go to Attributes > Under Group, select RS232 Connection > Enable the relevant attributes > Click Save. The RS232 Control group will then appear.
Result
Once installed and configured, your DOT QR Reader will activate automatically when a consumer presents a QR code, process the scan, and return to sleep mode when idle.
