DOT QR Reader: Installation and Configuration

Connect your DOT QR Reader and activate QR code scanning on your Nayax device. This guide covers physical cable connection and the RS232 attribute setup in Nayax Core.

Before You Start

  • You have a DOT QR Reader unit and its cable.
  • You have machine management permissions in Nayax Core.
  • Your Nayax device is powered off before beginning the physical installation.

Physical Installation

    Connect the DOT QR Reader cable to the Female RJ45 socket on the cable.

    Power on the Nayax device. Verify the DOT QR Reader is active it is working correctly when:

    • It projects white light and emits a beep sound on startup.
    • It activates when an obstacle (such as a hand or QR code) blocks the external light sensor.
    • It returns to sleep mode when no obstacle is detected.

Nayax Core Configuration

Once the reader is physically connected, configure the RS232 attribute in Nayax Core so your machine recognises it.

    In Nayax Core, locate your machine.

    Go to the Attributes tab.

    Find the RS232 Control group.

    Can't see the RS232 Control group? Go to Attributes > Under Group, select RS232 Connection > Enable the relevant attributes > Click Save. The RS232 Control group will then appear.

    Set RS232 Connection to 34 DOT QR Reader.

    Click Save.

    What you should see: The RS232 Control group updates with the DOT QR Reader value saved against your machine.

Result

✅ Setup complete

Your DOT QR Reader is now installed and configured. It will activate automatically when a consumer presents a QR code, process the scan, and return to sleep mode when idle.
