QUICK ANSWER The VPOS Touch connects to Wi-Fi via a wireless range extender, not directly. Configure the extender on your local Wi-Fi, connect it to the VPOS Touch with an Ethernet cable and an RJ-11 to RJ-45 adapter (purchased from Nayax), then reboot the device in Technician Mode. |
Before You Start
Make sure you have answers to these three questions before beginning setup. Your on-site IT administrator can help.
|
IMPORTANT Follow these steps exactly as written. Skipping steps or changing the order can create connectivity issues that are difficult to troubleshoot later. |
|
NOTE A Wi-Fi connection on the VPOS Touch works by converting a wireless signal to a wired (LAN) connection. The setup process is identical to an Ethernet connection — the wireless range extender acts as the bridge. |
Understand Your Network Type
Your on-site Wi-Fi will use one of two network configurations. Knowing which type you have determines what information you need to collect.
DHCP (Most Common)
The device is automatically assigned an IP address by the network. No extra configuration is needed on your end. Most locations use this type.
Static IP (Advanced)
The network administrator manually assigns a fixed IP address to your device. You will need the following details from them:
- Default Gateway
- Assigned IP Address
- DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2
- Subnet Mask
|
TIP If the Wi-Fi network is password-protected, collect the password before starting. You will need it when configuring the range extender. |
What You’ll Need
Gather everything below before beginning so you can complete setup in a single session.

NOTE Nayax does not provide or recommend a specific wireless range extender brand or model. Any extender with an RJ-45 Ethernet port will work. Make sure your Ethernet cable is long enough to reach from the outlet to the VPOS Touch. |

Step-by-Step Setup
Follow these five steps in order to connect your VPOS Touch to Wi-Fi.
Step 1: Install the VPOS Touch
Mount and install your VPOS Touch in your machine or kiosk before you set up the wireless range extender. The device must be physically in place so you can run the cable to it.
Step 2: Configure the Wireless Range Extender
Using your computer or laptop, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to connect the range extender to your on-site Wi-Fi network. This step must be performed on-site.
|
CHECKPOINT Verify the range extender can access the internet before moving on. If you have issues with the extender, contact the manufacturer or your on-site network administrator — Nayax cannot assist with extender setup. |
Step 3: Connect the Extender to the VPOS Touch
Bridge the wireless signal to your device:
- Plug the range extender into a power outlet near your machine.
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the range extender’s RJ-45 port.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the large end of the RJ-11 to RJ-45 adapter.
- Locate the RJ-11 port on the back of the VPOS Touch — it is on the left side, next to the SIM card slot.
- Plug the small end of the adapter into the RJ-11 port.
Step 4: Reboot the VPOS Touch
Use Technician Mode to restart the card reader so it recognizes the new connection:
- Press the Menu button (three horizontal lines) on the face of the card reader.
- Select Technician Mode.
- Enter the Technician passcode.
- Scroll down to Reboot and press the arrow to restart.
Step 5: Verify the Connection
After the device reboots, confirm everything is working:
- The default welcome message displays on the screen.
- The device successfully processes a test cashless transaction.
|
IMPORTANT If the welcome message does not appear, or the device cannot process a transaction, contact Nayax Support immediately. Do not attempt further troubleshooting on your own. |
Network Whitelist Reference
Your network administrator may need to whitelist specific IPs and ports for the VPOS Touch to communicate with Nayax servers. Share this section with your IT team.

Troubleshooting
If you run into issues during or after setup, start here.
|
Symptom |
Likely Cause |
Resolution |
|
No welcome message after reboot |
Extender not connected to Wi-Fi, or cable not seated |
Verify the extender has internet. Reseat all cables. Reboot again. |
|
Cannot process transactions |
Firewall blocking required ports |
Share the whitelist table (above) with your network admin. |
|
Intermittent connection drops |
Weak Wi-Fi signal at extender location |
Move the extender closer to the router, or use a stronger model. |
|
Static IP not working |
Incorrect network details entered |
Double-check Gateway, IP, DNS, and Subnet with your IT admin. |
|
TIP If the issue persists after checking all of the above, contact Nayax Support with the device serial number and a description of the problem. |
