How Count In Mode Works (Including configurations)

Count In mode is similar to Count Up, but instead of charging based on time, it charges based on pulses sent by your machine. The machine tells the device how much to charge through pulse signals.

General

The Complete Transaction Process

Customer Starts the Session

When a customer taps or inserts their payment card

  1. The device authorizes the maximum charge amount
  2. The device sends a signal through Pulse Line 1 to tell the machine to start working
  3. The machine pulls down the Inhibit wire to indicate it's now active

Customer Selects a Product

When the customer makes a selection on the machine (note: some configurations don't require product selection)
  1. The machine sends pulses through Pulse Line 2 to the device
  2. Each pulse increases the charge amount

Session Ends

The session can end in several ways

Option A: Customer presses Stop on the machine

    • The machine releases the Inhibit wire (pulls it up)

Option B: Customer presses Stop on the device

    • The device sends a pulse through Pulse Line 1 to stop the machine

Option C: Maximum charge reached

    • The device automatically sends a pulse through Pulse Line 1 to stop the machine

Payment Processing

Once the session stops
  1. The device processes the final payment amount
  2. The device notifies the machine that payment is complete by sending a pulse through Pulse Line 1
  3. The machine should release the Inhibit wire—if it doesn't, the device sends an alert to the server
  4. The device shows "Thank You" and displays the final charge amount
  5. The device returns to idle mode, ready for the next customer

Wire Connections

Your device uses three wires to communicate with the machine:
